Summary

Malo  and welcome to Episode 63 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this clear and bright Thursday  morning 01 September 2022 – coming to you from the 180th meridian in the  middle of the Pacific Ocean.

In tennis – English  rose Emma Raducanu and Japanese-American cherry blossom Naomi Osaka –  remember them the next gen of women’s tennis – gone, both lost in the  first round of the US Tennis Open.

Not sure what’s happened to Serena but Go Serena Go!

In  rugby – our world famous rugby Tips for the Rugby Championship Tests  this weekend: Starting in Hamilton, we tip the All Blacks to smozzle Los  Pumas in style and the Wallabies to zingaro the Springboks at Allianz  Stadium in Sydney. Zingaro?

Meanwhile,  an unnamed South African rugby player has apologised to the Principal  of a top Sydney boys’ high school after being caught urinating on their  school grounds during a Springboks training and PR session there  yesterday.

In rugby league – Our  world famous NRL Tips for Round 25: The Eels to slash and mash the  Storm at CommBank Stadium tonight. Manly to chomp the Bulldogs at Accor  Stadium, the Rabbitohs to bonk the Roosters at Allianz Stadium. The NZ  Warriors to toggle the Titans at Mt Smart Stadium, the Dragons to beluga  the Broncos at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and the Cowboys to bar-b-q the  Panthers in Townsville.

In football – the  recent Women’s EURO 2022 Championship in England was watched by a  tournament-record total live audience of 365 million broadcast viewers,  which is double the number from EURO 2017, UEFA said yesterday.

Stadium  attendances in England also set tournament records with an overall  total of 574,875, at an average of 18,544 per game, and 87,192 at  Wembley Stadium for the final — a record for the final for both Men’s or  Women’s EUROs.

In golf – The LIV Golf Series has lured Australian, Cameron Smith, the World Golf Rankings second-ranked golfer, which now gives the Saudi-backed series 26 of the world’s Top 100 golfers. Smith’s deal – reportedly US$100Million.

Apparently, Hideki Matsuyama, Japan’s top player and 16th worldwide, turned down between US$300M and US$400M Saudi cash to join the LIV Series.

Wonder what my cousin Tony is doing?

Finally  – the jury of seven women and four men in the trial of former  Manchester United superstar, Ryan Giggs was discharged after they told  the judge they had been unable to reach verdicts on charges he committed  assault causing actual bodily harm and used controlling behaviour  towards his then girlfriend Kate Greville and her dear sister Emma.

The Crown Prosecution now has seven days to decide whether to proceed with a retrial.

What’s the bet the two of them got together for a beer in a pub afterwards – the sisters I mean.
