Under the current ORIGIN rules, players who have resided in New South Wales or Queensland prior to their 13th birthday are eligible – unless they’ve represented England or New Zealand. The pressure is mounting on the NRL to change the rules ahead of the series opener this year.

The mother of star Broncos player Payne Haas, has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evading police and driving without a license, apart from manslaughter over a horror crash that killed three people on the Gold Coast on 30 December.
