The Canterbury Bulldogs are set to make a bizarre offer for Gold Coast Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, with a A$4Million contract and a share in a pub.
Fa’asuamaleaui and David Fifita are free agents due to a clause in their contracts as a result of former Coach Justin Holbrook’s sacking.
According to The Daily Telegraph, Arthur Laundy, who owns 30 pubs across New South Wales and is the Bulldogs major sponsor, has offered shares with a 10 to 12 per cent annual return for players who take up such a deal.
He is also willing to give a money-back guarantee should they want out: “If they want out at the end to get married, to buy a house, I’ll buy them out.”
Meanwhile back on earth!
Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako missed a game-winning field goal attempt in the 85th minute, but the Gold Coast were penalised for being offside with the scores locked at 21-21.
Erin Clark went early to put pressure on Isaako despite two warnings from Atkins and Isaako slotted the ensuing penalty goal from in front to win it.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak the Dolphins had been riding and three of those four losses came in blowout fashion.
They now sit 12th spot on the ladder, equal on points with the Titans.
