Reece Walsh has reportedly shaken hands on a contract extension with the Broncos, ending the star
fullback’s contract saga, which has dragged on for 12 months.
It’s a coup for the Broncos to pull it off before the November 1 deadline that would have allowed rival clubs to begin negotiating with Walsh.
As first reported by The Courier Mail, Walsh has signed with the Broncos through to the end of the 2029 season.
Heading into the 2025 season on A$600,000, Walsh’s new deal will be worth A$4.4Million across the following four years.
It makes Walsh the highest-paid player in the history of the Broncos — but the livewire 22-year-old could easily have got more.
“It’s a steal. It’s an absolute steal. If he stays on the field,” NRL legend Andrew Johns said.
Fellow NRL legend Brad Fittler also said: “From the Broncos’ point of view, it’s a bargain. Imagine how many Clubs out there would love to have Reece Walsh.”
