Teivovo Rugby Tips “Ba Originals”

Watch Out For Ba Originals Youth

Teivovo Rugby is tipping the three sevens teams from Ba to run deep into the third day of the 12th *McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s* kicking off next Thursday 18 January at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Watch out especially for the Ba Originals Youth team, stacked with talent from a powerhouse of secondary schools football – AD Patel College and also fresh faces from their newly created women’s rugby competition in their Ba
Originals Women’s Team.

Not to mention that their Ba Originals Men’s 7s Team is being mentored and coached by an absolute legend of Fiji rugby XVs and 7s teams from years gone by, mainly before the World Rugby HSBC 7s Series, in Sorokoba village
speedster – Vilimoni Delasau.

“Dels” as he was affectionately known by teammates played 29 Tests for Fiji in his international representative career from 2000 – 2008 scoring 11 Tries, including two famous kick-and-chase tries at the 2007 Rugby World
Cup in France against Wales and South Africa respectively.

Dels also played three Tests for the Pacific Islanders and also played
Super Rugby for the Crusaders and Highlanders in New Zealand, two seasons
in Japan for the Yamaha club, plus Top 14 Club rugby in France for
Clermont, Montauban and Toulouse until 2011.

But like all the best Fijian players, it was in 7s rugby where Dels made
his mark – scoring a record 82 tries in the 1999 season on the
international circuit that has now become the World Rugby HSBC 7s Series,
and for which he was named Player of the Year at the Fiji Rugby Awards.

So watch out for the teams from Ba, chasing down the big cash prizes of
$20,000 for the winner in the Men’s comp, while the winner of the women’s
and youth competitions will each receive $15,000 and $10,000 respectively.
