Bula, I’m Ben Koli, fj007, welcome to Fiji Airways TEIVOVO rugby show LOL 😀
Bula and welcome to our Super Rugby Pacific Review for another week. I’m Culden Kamea.
The big news that came out over last weekend was the Fijian Drua versus the Highlanders game on Saturday 30th April at 6:05PM at ANZ Stadium in sunny Suva!
You can purchase tickets from the Fiji Sports Council office located at the FMF Gymnasium, any of Post Fiji’s 58 Post Shops throughout Fiji and the Fiji Rugby Union office at Gordon Street in Suva. And yes Post Fiji takes crypto currency!
In another round blown apart by COVID, with only one game played in the New Zealand comp, the Swires Shipping Fijian Drua let slip another game that they should have won, going down to the Western Force 20-18 after the final hooter.
But before we all get carried away, we must remind ourselves that this is the first ever season of Super Rugby for our boys and so far they have all done us super proud!
In other results – the Brumbies rapped the Reds 12-16, the Chiefs with all their good players out still monstered Moana Pasifika 12-59, and the Tahs ripped the Rebels 19-24. All the other games were knocked out by COVID.
In closing I must admit that at halftime last Saturday with the Fijiana Drua up 45 nil over the Force I felt sorry for the girls from Western Australia – most of them looked so soft and cuddly! They just couldn’t handle the speed and tough stuff of our Fijiana Drua girls who showed mercy by not scoring in the second half and won 45-17 in the end! Good on you girls!
The Fijian Drua remain just outside the Top 8 in 9th position on the SRP table with the Brumbies, Queensland Reds and the NSW Waratahs all ahead of the top New Zealand team – the Crusaders who now have a game in hand thanks to COVID.
We finish this week with some highlights from Round 2 of the NRL competition, where Viliame Kikau was our biggest Fiji Bati star, scoring two tries against the Saint George Dragons in his 100th NRL game!
