Today we’re going to be working on hand-eye coordination & peripheral vision in rugby skills. For today’s skills we’ve got Jerry and Jerry from Lakeba rugby club.
So basically you get you set up a set of cones in a square one guy in the middle one guy on one line and another guy on the other line I’ll be passing Jerry the ball he’ll be passing back to me.
Jerry’s got to keep his eyes on me and Jerry on the side is going to be moving up and down
The man in the middle has to has to keep moving while catching and passing the ball and maintain that 90 degree angle that we’ve got right now
We’ll do the practice one now and see how we go ready?
So there’s a few few variations you can add to it the guy moving can move a lot faster and the guy passing the ball at some point you can switch pass it to the other man on that side and you start
Moving and the guy in the middle has got to react to that turn around face the guy with the ball And move with the other person so we’ll start off with the first drill and then switch into that second variation.
So the third and last variation of this drill is where both guys on the sides are moving and the person in the middle has got to still maintain eye contact with the guy with the ball and keep that 90 Degree angle
So moving with both people it really forces you to focus on your ball skills and keep good peripheral vision to see what’s happening around you.
