Ki ora, Talofa, Ma’lelei, Bula & Welcome to Season 08 Episode 82 of Breakfast Bites the FIJI & PACIFIC SPORTS NEWS PODCAST, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on a sunny and bright Sunday morning 31 March 2024.

Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

In Rugby

We all know that Aussies are whingers; first the NSW Waratahs Coach complained a week or so ago that some of his players suffered heat stroke at Churchill Park, then the Western Force boss says that some players nearly drowned in Lautoka yesterday after their 13-31 thrashing!

The Kiwi Super Rugby teams never ever complain or blame the weather in Fiji when they lose here.

Meanwhile, former Welsh rugby union star Louis Rees-Zammit, who claimed 31 caps for the Welsh national team in his rugby union career, has signed a deal with the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs through the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.

In football

A report for 2022–2023 shows the Welsh soccer team, Wrexham United owes its celebrity owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney US$11.3Million.

However, things are looking up for the Club, promoted to the fourth tier of English soccer last year and they may be promoted again.

In boxing: Undefeated Australian boxing superstar, Tim Tszyu said that his 1.97cm US rival, Sebastian Fundora looked “thin” and a completely different animal, declaring: “He’s a giraffe and I’m a tiger.”

The two fighters hit the scales at exactly the same weight: 69.3kg for their fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this afternoon.

Just for good measure, Tszyu also branded some of the world’s biggest boxing stars who have jetted in for the fight – Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr as “pussies!”.

In rugby league

The Gold Coast Titans scored the first two tries, but then conceded 30 unanswered points at home as the Dolphins ran riot for a 30-14 win.

As a result, Des Hasler is in charge of the first Club in 22 years – and just the third in NRL history – to concede 28 points in eight straight games when their loss to the Dolphins.

He’s gotta be a dead man walking.

The NFL is allowing four more teams to expand into five new overseas markets:

  • · the Giants with Germany
  • · the Lions with rights to Austria, Canada, Germany and Switzerland
  • · the Colts with Austria and Germany
  • · and the Browns with Nigeria
  • · Japan and South Korea claimed by the Rams, who also have China
  • · and Argentina and Colombia claimed by the Dolphins.

As recently as 2022, NFL teams were not allowed to market overseas, with the exception of the Jaguars in the UK.

So that’s a wrap!
