Malo and welcome to Season 3 Episode 27 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this sunny Thursday morning 27 October 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In rugby – the pool games of the Women’s Rugby World Cup is over with England, France, Australia, Italy, Wales, USA, Canada, and the Black Ferns in the quarter finals.

Looking back at some key Pool games stats: Tries scored: 130, Conversions: 62 @ 48%. The Black Ferns scored 26 tries, England scored 28 – mostly against Fijiana.

The Black Ferns had 59 offloads, Fijiana made 45 with England on 25. Fiji’s Sesenieli Donu had the most individual offloads with 12 followed by Black Fern Ruahei Demant with 10.

At the Rugby League World Cup – Papua New Guinea Kumul stars have well and truly announced themselves on the world stage with two excellent games at the RLWC against Mate Ma’a Tonga and the Cook Islands.

The PNG Kumuls have proved so far that they are as good as Mate Ma’a Tonga, Samoa Toa and the Fiji Bati.

Finally, Super League scouts in the UK are noticing Papua New Guinea Kumuls stars like Nixon Putt, Sylvester Namo, Kyle Laybutt, Rodrick Tai and McKenzie Yei.

In boxing – Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history. Period.

As Black Adam has shown, he is now one of the most famous people on planet earth and one of the highest-earning actors in Hollywood.

On Tuesday The Rock’s WWE legacy passed on to his 21-year-old daughter Simone Johnson who made her WWE debut in a surprise that had WWE fans losing it on WWE NXT.

In netball – a goal by Diamonds debutante Donnell Wallam in the dying seconds, secured Australia a thrilling 55-54 win over England in their opening Test in Newcastle last night.

Wallam, just the third First Nations woman to don the green and gold, ran on for Australia in the final quarter to a massive cheer from the crowd, after being in the spotlight for her opposition to mining company sponsor – Hancock Prospecting, who withdrew their A$15Million sponsorship of Netball Australia last week.

An emotional Wallam spoke to Kayo Sports after the game:” I was relieved to finally get my chance on court — it’s been some of the toughest few weeks of my life,” said the 28-year-old, a Noongar woman from Western Australia.

“To finally get out there and just play was really special. I hope that I’m now a role model to the young girls and boys coming through.”

Oh boy, that is the essence of sports right there!
