Summary

Malo  and welcome to Episode 88 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a  wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this brilliantly bright Monday  morning 26 September 2022 – coming to you from paradise on the 180th  meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

With the Rugby Championship over, all eyes are turning to the Women’s Rugby World Cup starting in New Zealand next week.

Third-ranked Canada defeated Fiji 24-7 on Friday in the final test match for both teams ahead of next month’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Fiji,  ranked 21st in the world, is in Pool C and will play their opening game  against top-ranked England, No. 4 France and No. 11 South Africa.

This year, Team Fijiana also lost to No. 13 Japan 28-14 and No. 7 Australia 36-19.

Black ferns 7s superstar,

Portia  Woodman made a spectacular return to New Zealand’s XVs Test team two  weeks ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, scoring seven tries in a  virtuoso performance as the Black Ferns thrashed a heavily out-gunned  Japan 95-12 at Eden Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile on their way to the Women’s RWC, England  Women, the world’s top-ranked Test XVs team, having won a record 25  straight Tests, have been rudely and disrespectfully squashed into  economy class for their 24 hours flights to New Zealand.

In contrast, their male counterparts with Eddie Jones travelled business class to the Rugby World Cup in Japan in 2019

Not a good start for the England girls and guess who they play first – Fiji.

Go Fijiana Go!

In rugby league – just two teams left standing – Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels  will battle it out for the NRL Telstra Premiership 2022 title this  weekend after stamping out the Cowboys and South Sydney in their  respective semis last weekend. Who do you tip?

In  boxing – unbeaten Joe Joyce was just too big and strong for Joseph  Parker in Manchester, England yesterday, cracking a wicked left hook  which sent the Kiwi-Samoan warrior crashing to the canvas ending their  fight in Round 11 and probably ending Parker’s career in the top flight.
