Summary
Malo and welcome to Episode 87 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika peoples sports on this brilliantly bright Sunday morning 25 September 2022 – coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
We start with our one-stop-shop rugby results: Geelong thumped Sydney by 81 points in one of the biggest wins in AFL Grand Final history – more details later. The All Blacks thumped the Wallabies 14-40 at Eden Park and the Springboks 38-21 Argentina. In the NRL, the Panthers thumped Souths 12-32 and so face the Eels in the grand-final.
The Wallabies poor discipline cost them 16 penalties, including two yellow cards, dreadful turnovers – 15 to six and 29 missed tackles meant the Wallabies stood little chance of ending their 36-year hoodoo at Eden Park, as the All Blacks scored five tries to win 40-14 last night.
Geelong claimed their 10th AFL flag – the 2022 Grand Final at the MCG yesterday, thumping the Sydney Swans in one of the biggest wins in Grand Final history, 20.13.133-8.4.52 Swans.
It was Cats veteran superstar Patrick Dangerfield’s first flag and Joel Selwood’s fourth. Selwood is the first player to win four flags at Geelong.
In boxing – Place your bets ladies and gentlemen for Joe Joyce against Kiwi-Samoan Joseph Parker for today’s WBO heavyweight eliminator fight at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.
Go Uso Go.
In football – remember the meaningless Nations Cup tournament that no fan understands how it works?
Well England has just been relegated to the B division of it after losing one nil to Italy in Milan yesterday. Hungary also stunned hosts Germany in Leipzig by the same score.
