Ki ora, Talofa, Ma’lelei, Bula & Welcome to Season 08 Episode 78 of Breakfast Bites the FIJI & PACIFIC SPORTS NEWS PODCAST, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on a sunny and bright Monday morning 25 March 2024.

Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

In Super Rugby Pacific games

The Fijian Drua play the Western Force this Saturday, followed by the Rebels in Melbourne and after a bye, they take on the Hurricanes in Suva.

After pipping the Tahs last Saturday, Mick Byrne must be targeting two more back-to-back wins to set up a run at the finals again.

Meanwhile, who won the 48th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s featuring the All Blacks 7s? And is anyone even watching Skipper Cup and ANZ Marama Challenge games?

In football

The United States Men’s national soccer team continued its dominance of the Concacaf Nations League and its regional rivals Mexico, with a 2-0 win and a third title in a row in the competition at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas last night.

Tyler Adams scored a first-half thunderbolt, and Giovanni Reyna added a second goal after the break with a difficult volley to give the US a measure of redemption after an uninspired win over Jamaica in the semifinals of the Nations League last Thursday.

In boxing

Should Aussie champ Tim Tszyu win Sunday’s headliner against towering American Sebastian Fundora, his promoters No Limit will go immediately into discussions to defend the WBO and WBC crowns against world boxing’s pound-for-pound King, American superstar Terence Crawford, who has been secretly pursuing a Tim Tszyu title showdown for at least five months.

Apparently, Crawford even requested a showdown with the WBO Super Welterweight Champion last December.

In rugby league

Inspired by Kalyn Ponga, the Newcastle Knights claimed their first win of the season; 14-12 at McDonald Jones Stadium, after surviving a second-half comeback from a depleted Melbourne Storm side, missing Cameron Munster, Jahrome Hughes and Nelson Asofa-Solomona for their first loss of the year.

In SportsBiz

Jose Mourinho left Serie A side Roma back in January after previously leading the Italian giants to a first European Cup in more than 60 years.

While it still remains to be seen where ‘The Special One’ will end up next, rumours of a potential third-stint at Chelsea have hit the headlines in recent weeks, especially given their poor form under

Mauricio Pochettino.

Reports in Germany have even suggested Mourinho is already learning German in preparation to take over at the Allianz Arena with Thomas Tuchel leaving at the end of the season.

Early indicators from the bookmakers suggest the former Chelsea boss is wanted by Saudi Pro League clubs.

So that’s a wrap!
