While ORIGIN III may be a dead rubber, there is plenty for the NSW Blues to gain as it looks to salvage something – anything, from a series that opened with so much promise and instead has amounted to nothing.
But before the Blues even consider any team changes, they must answer one simple question first — is Brad Fittler NSW Blues Coach next year?
Fittler’s contract with the Blues expires at the end of 2023.
Meanwhile Maroons skipper Daly Cherry-Evans delivered a mammoth performance to seal the ORIGIN Series at Suncorp on Wednesday, but now he has hinted at retiring: “As I get older the thought of retirement definitely starts to float through your head,” Cherry-Evans said.
The Manly halfback has now played 21 games for his State and has captained the Maroons to series victory on three occasions since taking the armband in 2019.

The woman who has accused Conor McGregor of rape after Game 4 of the NBA Finals was allegedly offered US$100,000 in hush money — an offer that was apparently rescinded after news of the alleged sex assault broke, The Daily Mail has reported.
Her lawyer, Ariel Mitchell said Miami Heat and NBA officials were hastily trying to keep the apparent incident under wraps, the New York Post reports.
At the NBA Draft yesterday
A new era for basketball is underway after French prodigy Victor Wembanyama was chosen by the San Antonio Spurs with the top pick in the NBA draft.
The French star has the size and strength to dominate defensively mixed with the ball-handling skills and passing talent of a guard, providing a unique package that has analysts calling him the best prospect since LeBron James joined the NBA two decades ago.
Even though he knew this moment was coming, Wembanyama was highly emotional after officially having his name called.
Apparently his old girlfriend wants to suddenly make up!

Did you know that Bournemouth sacked their Manager, Gary O’Neil after just 37 games and despite him helping the Cherries avoid Premier League relegation?
O’Neil took charge as interim boss after the struggling side sacked Scott Parker back in August.
He turned things around in remarkable way, and was given an 18-month deal in November, his first Head Coaching role.
O’Neil guided Bournemouth to a 15th-place finish after a stunning run in April saw them virtually safe with four games in hand.
Bournemouth owner and Chairman Bill Foley saying it was a “difficult decision”.
Yeah right, you double-crossing son of a gun!
And finally in SportsBiz
The San Antonio Spurs surprised no one with the first overall pick in the NBA Draft yesterday, selecting French sensation Victor Wembanyama, the NBA’s most hyped prospect since LeBron James.
Not surprisingly, the Spurs generated more than 2500 new season-ticket membership deposits immediately following last month’s NBA Lottery draw, now the number of new deposits is in excess of 4000 and still rising.
The new sales will undoubtedly push the Spurs above their NBA attendance average of 16,937 last season.
Even before entering the league, Wembanyama last season generated 350 million views on NBA social media channels.
And that’s a wrap!
