Starting with rugby league – all the Pacific Island nations playing international rugby league against each other this weekend have named teams stacked-full of NRL stars; so we tip Samoa to umu the Cook Islands, Mate Ma’a Tonga to King Kong the Kiwis and the Fiji Bati to stir fry the Papua New Guinea Kumuls.
In football – sensational Senegal striker, Sadio Mane has joined Bayern Munich in a US$43Million move until 2025. With Mane having just one year left on his contract, the Reds let him depart now rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer of 2023. The Senegal star scored 120 goals in 269 games for Liverpool.
In boxing – the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be the venue for Saul Canelo Alvarez v Gennady GGG Golovkin III on 17 September. Matchroom Boxing confirmed that the venue in “Sin City” will host the fight between the Mexican and the Kazakh for the undisputed Super Middleweight title of the world.
And finally – Cocaine kingpin, Ryan Palin was found guilty of a conspiracy to supply 700kg of cocaine, 15kg of heroin and 40kg of amphetamines after detectives identified him as the man goofing around in selfies in front of a mural of UFC superstar Conor McGregor painted on the wall of his home in England.
