In  rugby league – Papua New Guinea has named eight players from the Kumuls  team that beat the Fiji Bati in their last Test, for Sunday’s  Australian Prime Minister’s XIII clash at Suncorp.

The 20-man squad has players from the Queensland and NSW Cups plus the PNG domestic comp, the Digicel Cup, like the in-form Leon Undupia of Mendi Muruks. Players  from the Agmark Gurias and Hela Wigman were unavailable due to them  playing in the PNG Digicel Cup final.

In chess – after  making just one move World No. 1, Magnus Carlsen resigned from an  online chess match against brash US Youtube sensation, Hans Niemann on  Monday in a deepening of the chess scandal surrounding the two players.

The  two were playing an online match in the Julius Baer Generation Cup when  the dark and moody Carlsen abruptly resigned and turned off his webcam  without saying anything after making just one move.
