Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
In rugby union
The future of the Melbourne Rebels has taken a dark turn with 10 staff including their CEO sacked, and all remaining staff, including coaches put on four-month deals just to cover the 2024 Super Rugby season.
Now under administration, The Age reports PwC terminated the employment of all staff members, excluding players, because Rugby Australia is a party to their contracts.
In football
South Korea, ranked 23rd in the world, suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss to 87th-ranked Jordan, in the semi-finals of the Asian Football Confederation competition in Qatar.
According to a report from British newspaper The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur Captain Son Heung-min dislocated his finger in a brawl with a teammate that erupted at dinner the night before the game.
In combat sports
In an exclusive interview with FOX Sports, leading into his upcoming blockbuster against American superstar Keith Thurman, at T-Mobile Arena come 31 March, Aussie Champ Tim Tszyu gave respect to Terence Crawford: “He’ll fight anyone. And that’s why I see him as such a great challenge.
“It could be Crawford or Errol Spence next, whichever one is easiest to make. That’s why this upcoming fight means so much … I win and the possibilities are endless.”
In rugby league
Las Vegas Police Chief Kendall Bell has delivered a warning to NRL stars over sex, drugs, alcohol and scams on their trip to Sin City.
The man who headed up security for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, spoke to players from the Rabbitohs, Broncos, Roosters and Sea Eagles yesterday morning to ensure they know exactly how much trouble they could get into in Sin City.
Players were urged to avoid alcohol, drugs and sex where possible, and told:
- Drink spiking is a major risk, with players told to avoid speaking with strangers or leaving their drinks behind.
- Taking women back to their rooms would leave them vulnerable to extortion attempts, or simply theft.
- Marijuana use is legal in Nevada.
News Corp reported that each team will be supplied with 10 security guards.
Sounds like a whole lotta fun! Wanna bet that some players will . . . never mind!
So that’s a wrap!
