Talofa, Ma’lelei’i, Bula and welcome to Season 4 Episode 72 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a beautiful sunny and bright Tuesday morning 14 March 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In rugby union – Lost in the wild celebrations and widespread jubilation surrounding the historic Fijian Drua win over the Crusaders in Fiji last weekend, the removal of the Fiji Rugby Union interim CEO, Tevita Tuiloa is back in the spotlight, after he revealed that Fiji 7s star, Jerry Tuwai has not received F$30,000 for his new house, promised by Prime Minister Bainimarama after the Tokyo Olympics.

Tuiloa also questioned the current contracts of the Men’s Fiji 7s squad.

This apparently upset some FRU Board members and shortly afterwards it was announced by the Chairman, Humphrey Tawake, that Tuiloa was no longer interim CEO.

The big questions are – was Tevita Tuiloa pushed? By whom – who had the most to ylose from these revelations?

In rugby league – consecutive close losses in golden point against the Storm in the NRL season opener, and a 26-30 loss to the Sharks, see the Eels drop to 0-2. And in facing the Sea Eagles, the Panthers and the Roosters next, Parramatta could fall to 0-5, but Head Coach Brad Arthur isn’t panicking.

Meanwhile, Mal Meninga believes “it could be a long year” for the Storm as they deal with mounting injuries with Munster, PNG Kumuls star, Justin Olam, Paps, Tariq Sims and Xavier Coates all out, plus Lord Nelson also under an injury cloud now. Meninga said, “I’m not quite sure about their depth this year.”

In football – after four years living in Paris and now 31, Neymar is planning to retire at Paris Saint-Germain, despite links with a return to Barcelona, or a move to the English Premier League.

The Brazilian superstar has helped PSG win 12 trophies, including four Ligue 1 titles, but is yet to steer them to glory in the UEFA Champions League.

In boxing – Ukrainian Heavyweight World Champion Oleksandr Usyk is eyeing a return to playing football as his heavyweight unification fight against Tyson Fury remains unconfirmed.

The Gypsy King is now insisting that there is no rematch clause in the contract ahead of their proposed fight date of 29 April.

It comes after Usyk verbally agreed to Fury’s demand that the purse is split 70-30 in the Gypsy King’s favour.

Wow what’s that saying about “pay unto Ceasar what is due to him.”
