In rugby league – The Rugby League World Cup kicks off on Saturday as England take on Toa Samoa at St James’ Park. Straight after that battle in Newcastle, the Australian Kangaroos take on the Fiji Bati at Headingley as they begin the defence of their title which they won in 2013 and 2017.
In boxing – Filipino boxing great, Manny Pacquiao – the only eight-division world champion in boxing history, will fight an exhibition match against South Korean Mixed Martial Artist, DK Yoo in South Korea this winter to raise money for war-torn Ukraine, the organizers announced yesterday.
In football – the NHL Vegas Golden Knights owner, Bill Foley has reached an agreement to buy AFC Bournemouth in the English Premier League for US$134Million. Bournemouth is owned by Maxim Demin, who purchased a 50% stake in the Club in 2011 in a deal valued at US$975,000. The agreement puts half of the EPL’s 20 Clubs under US ownership.
