Talofa, Ma’lele’i, Bula and welcome to Season 05 Episode 11 of Breakfast Bites, the FIJI & PACIFIC SPORTS NEWS PODCAST, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on another partly cloudy but sunny Wednesday morning 12 April 2023.

Coming to you from paradise, on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In rugby union: We start with the Super W competition: On Friday the Brumbies vs the Rebels 7.05pm and on Sunday NSW Waratahs vs the Queensland Reds 5.05pm and the Western Force vs the Fijiana Drua at 7.05pm.

Can they bounce back?

Only four games of Super Rugby Round 8 this weekend starting on Friday with Moana Pasifika vs the Reds 4.05pm and the Brumbies vs the Fijian Drua in freezing Canberra at 9.35pm and on Saturday the Hurricanes vs Chiefs at 2.35pm and NSW Waratahs vs the Force at 9.35pm.

In rugby league: NRL Round 7 Draw all times AEST: On Thursday the Dolphins vs South Sydney at Suncorp Stadium 7:50pm. On Friday Cronulla Sharks vs Sydney Roosters at PointsBet Stadium 6pm and Manly vs the Storm at 4 Pines Park at 8pm.

On Saturday, the New Zealand Warriors vs the Cowboys at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland at 3pm, the Knights vs the Panthers at McDonald Jones Stadium somewhere in Oz and at 5:30pm, the Gold Coast Titans vs the Broncos at C-bus Super Stadium 7:35pm.

On Sunday the Canberra Raiders vs St George Dragons at GIO Stadium at 2pm and the Parramatta Eels vs the Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium at 4pm.

In football: Germany’s top soccer leagues are slowly but surely recovering from the effects of COVID19. The governing body of the Bundesliga, reported revenues of US$4.9Billion for the 2021-22 season, up 11% from the previous season.

While it’s the first revenue increase since the start of COVID, it still lags behind pre-pandemic numbers of US$5.2B revenue in the 2018-19 season.

In SportsBiz: Mukesh Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, is the world’s richest team owner, according to Forbes.

Ambani, whose net worth is US$83.4Billion is Chairman of Reliance Industries, a conglomerate with interests in everything in India and around the world especially in energy, retail, telecommunications and more.

A dip in Microsoft’s stock knocked Steve Ballmer down into second spot with a net worth of US$80.7B. Ballmer can often be spotted courtside at home games of his Los Angeles Clippers.

Of the top 20 richest owners, eight own football teams.

In Boxing: Talk about no mercy – Israel Adesanya has been slammed for taunting Alex Pereira’s son after his knockout win at UFC287 in Miami last Sunday.

After the Kiwi-Nigerian reclaimed his UFC Middleweight title with a vicious second-round KO of the Brazilian, he mimed pulling three arrows out and firing them at Pereira – which is part of the former champion’s famous entrance.

Adesanya then went searching for Pereira’s son in the crowd – who was crying following his dad’s KO loss, but Adesanya refused to show any mercy.

He made a point of staring straight at Pereira’s son, before theatrically dropping to the floor.

Adesanya later revealed he had done so because the boy had done a similar thing to him after their last fight which his Father Alex Pereira won by KO.

Just beautiful, the sweet science of UFC.
