Malo and welcome to Season 4 Episode 08 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this bright and sunny Sunday morning 08 January 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In rugby union – John O’Connor the CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union has resigned. Despite speculation on social media linking his departure from Rugby House to the recent change of government in Fiji – this is simply not true.

Word from Fiji Rugby Union insiders say O’Connor resigned for personal health reasons.

His replacement will be known in six to eight weeks.

In rugby league – the mother of Broncos star Payne Haas has been jailed, but not for the car crash on the Gold Coast that killed three people as she was trying to evade Police on 30 December – that case is still to go to Court.

Uiatu ‘Joan’ Taufua was on parole at the time of the crash for violently assaulting and spitting on two Star Casino bouncers in September last year, for which she had served one month of a nine month sentence in jail before being granted parole.

The nature of her involvement in the deadly car crash was deemed to be a breach of her parole, prompting police to put her back behind bars.

Boy this woman needs help.

In tennis – World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Australian Open after suffering another injury blow.

The 19 year-old had his 2022 curtailed by an abdominal tear, but the Spaniard revealed on his social media channels he has now sustained an injury to a muscle in his right leg.

“I worked so hard to get to my best level for Australia but unfortunately I won’t be able to play in the Australian Open,” he wrote.

In football – if ever there was a fixed match in football, this is it; in one of the most incredible finishes to a match in A-League history, Sydney FC lost one nil to nine-man Wellington Phoenix after incredibly missing two penalties in stoppage time, following a series of bizarre refereeing decisions.

Football in Australia seems to be falling apart.

Only in the US – Dana White’s new show – “Power Slap” where two fighters slap each other in the face until one gives up and the other is declared the winner is . . er not surprisingly, being delayed.

Well what do you expect, after TMZ uploaded a video shot by a bystander at a nightclub in Cabo, Mexico on New Year’s eve showing UFC Prez White slapping his wife in the face twice!

Do you think he did it to promote the show?
