Malo and welcome to Season 3 Episode 68 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this bright and sunny Wednesday morning 07 December 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In the FIFA World Cup Last 16 knockout games in Qatar today: Just as we tipped it – Morocco served up one big juicy mango smoothie for Spain and sent them packing back to Madrid with a 3-0 win after their penalty shootout. And Portugal popped Switzerland’s bubble 6-1 this morning.

So the FIFA World Cup 2022 Quarterfinalists are: Netherlands 3-1 USA, Argentina 2-1 Australia, France 3-1 Poland, England 3-0 Senegal, Croatia 3-1 Japan, Brazil 4-1 South Korea, Morocco 3-0 Spain and Portugal 6-1 Switzerland.

In rugby union – BREAKING NEWS 2: Eddie Jones has been sacked by the Rugby Football Union as Head Coach of England, a day after Wales Rugby Union sacked Wayne Pivac – both going a year out from the Rugby World Cup in France 2023.

So, is Scott Razor Robertson lost to New Zealand?

In rugby league – the Eels are desperate; having offered playmaker Mitchell Moses a A$1Million per season extension, he is yet to accept, as he weighs up more money from other Clubs.

Both Moses and his halves partner Dylan Brown are now free to negotiate with rivals for 2024 and beyond.

And the Newcastle Knights have signed a pair of Super League young guns, Kai Pearce-Paul and Will Pryce for two years for the start of the 2024 season. Pearce-Paul, 21, has been one of Wigan’s best players since making his debut in 2020 and is hyped as England’s Sonny Bill Williams.

In boxing – Mills Lane, one of the most well-known and respected referees in professional boxing, celebrated for his no-nonsense demeanor and pre-fight catchphrase “Let’s Get It On!”, passed away Tuesday morning in his hometown of Reno, Nevada.

Mills was surrounded by his two sons and his wife Kay. He was 85.

As for the most complete fighter he ever refereed? That distinction went to Sugar Ray Leonard.

“Leonard is probably one of the best athletes ever in this sport,” Lane said in an LA Times interview. “God gave some men a lot of talent and only a little bit of character. Other men got a little bit of talent and a lot of character. Sugar Ray, he got it all.”

For his efforts and contributions, Lane was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2013. Rest in Peace bro.
