In Rugby

So we’re into the last round of pool games at the RWC2023 in France with some critical games to come, but first New Zealand has qualified for the quarter-finals after they thrashed Uruguay 0-73 yesterday in Lyon.

Also in Lyon this morning is France vs Italy and tomorrow at 1AM Wales vs Georgia in Nantes, 3:45 AM a must-win for Manu Samoa vs England in Lille, 8AM another key game Ireland vs Scotland in Paris, and at 12midnight it’s Japan vs Argentina in Nantes.

On Monday in Lille at 3:45AM Tonga tackle Romania followed at 7AM by Fiji vs Portugal in Toulouse.

In rugby league

Our world famous tips for the Pacific Championships, big Mal’s Australian Kangaroos to hondacivic New Zealand and teslamusk Samoa in the Cup competition, while in the battle for the Bowl we tip the Papua New Guinea Kumuls to isuzuzooloo the Fiji Bati and to subarubaru the Cook Islands.

In Football

31 October is the deadline for receiving applications for organizing the FIFA World Cup 2034 and Saudi Arabia is receiving strong support from numerous countries from Asia and other continents for its bid. Apart from Saudi Arabia, Australia is also planning to submit a bid.

In SportsBiz

Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is easily still the wealthiest owner in US pro sports, topping Forbes’ rankings for a ninth consecutive year with an estimated net worth of US$101Billion — a 21.7% jump from a year ago, and built mainly on his Microsoft stock.

Second-ranked on the list is Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton with US$67.4B. Lining up behind Walton is the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Dan Gilbert third at US$21.3B, the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC’s David Tepper on US$20.6B and the New York Mets’ Steve Cohen rounding out the Top 5 with US$19.8B.

Earlier this year, Josh Harris led a US$6.05B purchase of the Washington Commanders that set a new record for the largest-ever sale of a pro sports team.

In Combat sports

American fighter, Brian Mendoza has landed in Australia ahead of his bout with unbeaten Aussie star, Tim Tszyu next weekend on the Gold Coast for the WBO World Super Welterweight title after undisputed 12 rounds runner, Jermell Charlo was stripped of the belt when he stepped into the ring against Canelo Alvarez last week.

In SportsBiz and I might add – only in the USA

The budding romantic relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift has turned the NFL into a pop culture media circus since the pop superstar first attended the Kansas City Chiefs versus Chicago Bears game at Arrowhead Stadium two weeks ago.

During the Chiefs versus Jets “Sunday Night Football” broadcast, NBC cut away to Taylor Swift 17 times and showed two commercials for her new movie!

That Chiefs-Jets game drew 27 million viewers, making it the most-watched Sunday broadcast since Super Bowl LVII in February, while NBC drew about 2 million more female viewers than its season average so far for “Saturday Night Football.”

Oh Taylor, what are we to do with you?

And that’s a wrap!
