Malo and welcome to Season 4 Episode 63 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a beautiful sunny and bright Sunday morning 05 March 2023, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!

In rugby – With a win and loss on Day One of the Vancouver 7s yesterday, Team Fijiana came up against the mighty Black Ferns at 7.06am this morning and lost 24-7.

Quite unbelievable that Fiji lost to Uruguay 17-14 in Vancouver yesterday, anyway they play Great Britain at 8.42am this morning and need Kenya to beat Uruguay to go through to the Cup quarter finals.

Samoa thrashed Spain 31-19, but just lost to USA 14-12 yesterday and play the All Blacks 7s in what should be cracker of a game at 10.13am this morning.

The Fijian Drua and Moana Pasifika suffered big losses in the Super Round of Super Rugby at AAMI Park in Melbourne yesterday. The Chiefs swept Moana Pasifika 29-52 and the fight was taken out of the Fijian Drua when they lost two players to the bin for an easy 46-17 Tahs win in the end.

Today at 3pm Blues-Brumbies and 5.30pm Force-Reds. All games played at AAMI Park and times shown are Fiji local time.

In rugby league – the Cowboys scored three first half tries to Murray Taulagi and a double to Scott Drinkwater to beat the Raiders in their one-point thriller with Canberra coming back from 18-0 down to draw level, before a Chad Townsend field goal sealed the game at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

“A star is born,” Fox League’s Dan Ginnane said of Lachlan Ilias, in his second season at Souths; the young gun halfback stealing the show in a tight 27-18 win over the Sharks, with the 22-year-old having a hand in everything, in a “statement victory” according to Cooper Cronk.

Move over Russell Crowe.

In football – Roberto Firmino is set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to an eight-year career at Anfield.

Firmino, who has scored 102 goals in 352 appearances for the Club, is also the highest-scoring Brazilian in the EPL with 78 goals.

He has also won the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup and FA Cup since joining from Hoffenheim in 2015.

In boxing – NRL Cowboys wrecking ball and Tongan enforcer, Jason Taumalolo has been given the green light by the Cowboys to launch his boxing career. CEO Jeff Reibel said the Club would not stand in Taumalolo’s way and are keen see the star forward in the ring.

Maybe this will entice Paul Gallen out of retirement.
