Mick Byrne -Head Coach of the Fijian Drua said:
“I think for me when I when you look at Allow from the opportunity to coach this team it allow from was very exciting
“I think you you know, I think for me when I when you look at the opportunity to coach this team it was very exciting.
“I think you you know you talk about what they’ve shown you in the past I’ve coached against them I’ve coached with Fijian players and just their their attitude to the game the way they respect the game, the way they play it in the spirit of the game to be able to come and lead this team knowing full well how they look at the game.
“It’s just an exciting opportunity and you know I wanted to obviously challenge myself as well as a coach but to come in from a group starting from fresh is that’s another good opportunity for for any coach to come in and start afresh.
“We are the first new team to participate in Super Rugby in a competition that we look up to and we watch it as a kid growing up every weekend.
“All these big teams and now we get to play against them. It’s just a huge privilege and an honour I think that’s what builds a bond you know. Straight away you know we see each other and the connections are immediate.
We don’t really have to build any chemistry, the chemistry is just there.
“So having a fully Fijian team or everybody has Fijian heritage, I think that’s that’s a big leg up for us
“Whenever we take on the stadium or rugby pitch it’s just like all your worries don’t count if you turn out while taking on the rugby pitch.
“Plenty young plays in this video I really love; the voice, how we communicate, the best thing I enjoy is a socializing, your partner gets to meet them and you make friends with them for life and you get to make connections with others you don’t even know that you are connected to and that’s what I love about it.
“It’s a more close-knit family.
“You know there’s a lot of hard sessions, we go through tough sessions where we just want to quit and go home. But lucky we have some of the funny ones we’re just lighting up our day which makes us like keep continuing.
