Jordan Mailata grew up in Bankstown, Sydney, Australia the son of Samoan immigrant parents, started out playing rugby union and because of his sheer size – now 2M tall and 165Kg of pure muscle, he was snapped up by the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Incredibly when things stalled for the young Mailata in the NRL his agent suggested that he try a long shot with the NFL International Pathways program. So on a wing and a prayer, Jordan Mailata landed at the IMG Academy in Miami Florida where he trained and learned his new game – American gridiron.
Mailata was the 233rd pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles and as they say in the movies, “The rest is history” – Jordan Mailata was given a four-year contract by the Eagles in 2022 worth US$64Million.
On Sunday he plays in Super Bowl LVII.
