A year after they were obliterated by 50 points in the Rugby League World Cup final, a new-look Kiwi Ferns side got their revenge despite spending the majority of the match defending their own line.

The New Zealand Kiwi Ferns ended seven years of heartbreak to stun the Australian Jillaroos 6-12 in a monumental upset at AAMI Park in Melbourne yesterday.

Later, Australia beat New Zealand 18-36 in a tense clash between the arch rivals, with

Kangaroos bench prop Lindsay Collins scored an unlikely double in the first half, while Nicho Hynes and Tom Flegler both made their Test debuts.

Big Mal is now 12/12 on Australian soil and the sides will clash again in the Pacific Championships final in Hamilton next Saturday night.
