Australia beat Fiji in a cracker upset 20-17 to win their first Hong Kong 7s title in 34 years, while for the double Olympic and reigning world champions, it was their first loss in the Mother of all rugby 7s tournaments in over five years.
France beat Samoa 17-19 for third.
